This calculator helps you practice word problems that involve division. Use paper to do the math for the given problem, then input your answers here and click the Calculate button. The calculator will evaluate your answers and then show the work so you can learn how to solve the word problem.

How to solve a word problem:

To solve this problem you have to divide the total length of the tube by the number of pieces you need. Since the landscaper is cutting the tube into equal lengths the problem becomes a simple division. For example, if the landscaper has a tube 306 feet long and cuts it into 18 equal pieces, the length of each piece will be 306 feet ÷ 18 pieces.

Putting this into an equation you get
306 feet ÷ 18 pieces = 17 feet / piece

Each piece is 17 feet long.
